Elisa Halewood

Elisa Halewood is the laboratory manager at the Carlson lab at UCSB, where she oversees projects in microbial oceanography and the biogeochemical cycling of dissolved organic carbon (DOC). Having joined the lab as an undergraduate and become a technician in 2004, Elisa earned her M.S. in Microbial Oceanography from UCSB in 2010. Her research focuses on the impact of heterotrophic bacterioplankton processes on nutrient distribution in marine ecosystems. Her Master's research involved studying the variability of organic nutrients and bacterioplankton dynamics in the Santa Barbara Coastal ecosystem through detailed oceanographic cruises and measurements.
