The production of new knowledge is at the core of the University of California's mission. The CSI aims to ensure that such knowledge production addresses the needs of U.S. Latinx communities and the environments in which they live.
As an Organized Research Unit (ORU), the CSI is empowered by the Office of Research to facilitate research as well as provide grant proposal preparation assistance and grant administration for faculty and students whose work aligns with its mission. We do this by:
- supporting individual research projects and research collaborations;
- disseminating research results through research conferences and publications;
- strengthening graduate and undergraduate education by providing students with training and research opportunities.
